Symmetry is one of the 3 principles of creating balance. Symmetry gives you a feeling of stability, relaxation and control. That's because the space is mirrored along a central focal point. The objects in the room would be repeated to achieve harmony. You will notice a repeating pattern.

How do you create a symmetrical room? Choose one piece of furniture, art piece or object that will serve as your focal point. Keep in mind the object should be eye-catching! That focal point will define the space and set the tone for the rest of the room. Next you should repeat a pattern. For example a pair of matching end tables or nightstands.

Remember the key is finding the right balance.
